1) You might be wondering what are Mooch cash bonuses in my account? 🤔

Mooch bonuses are given to you for each envelope you successfully budget for.

For example if you pay an expense on time without withdrawing money early from an envelope then you earn a cash bonus. Same goes for savings envelopes, if you save up successfully for a goal then you earn a cash bonus for that envelope.

2) But where does the money to pay these cash bonuses come from? 💭

The money inside your envelopes is held in an interest bearing checking account. It earns interest rate on the U.S. Federal Funds rate similar to a bank. We then take the interest that was earned and give you a cash bonus for each envelope! (keep in mind we take a small piece of this interest that was earned as well to help cover our business expenses and keep Mooch working).

3) Why is the bonus amount different for each envelope? 🤓

The amount of bonus you get is proportional to how big your envelope is. For example if you have a large envelope for rent then you'll get a larger cash bonus. However, if it is a small envelope like electric you will get a smaller cash bonus.

4) When do I get paid my bonus?

You get paid your bonuses on your expense and savings envelopes on the first of each month.

5) Can I ever lose my bonus?

Yes, you will lose your bonus if you cancel an envelope before an expense is due or before you hit your savings goal date. This is to incentivize good budgeting behavior! If you stick to paying your expenses on time and saving money up for a goal, then you'll earn bonuses💰
